It was the perfect choice for us. We immediately loved the layout, spacious feel, the abundance of natural light, and the fact that it’s on Birdhurst Road. Finding somewhere with two large bedrooms, lots of storage space, plus a garage was a real bonus. We also liked that the kitchen is separate from the lounge, yet with the door open it becomes a dual aspect. Watching the birds and squirrels play on the lawn from the kitchen window makes doing the washing up enjoyable (!)
We have redecorated the flat a few times over the years, including a makeover of the kitchen and have taken great care of it. The building has a nice community feel with friendly neighbours, and we have always felt safe here. Additionally, there is a Whatsapp group for the co-freeholders, so any issues that may arise are dealt with swiftly.
As for the location…. it’s perfect. Commuting to London and travelling to Gatwick or the South Coast is a breeze, with East and South Croydon stations, bus stops and Tramlink just a few minutes away. We have made the most of having two large parks just up the road as well as the beautiful Coombe Wood Gardens, as they are wonderful spaces for early morning walks or lunch breaks when working from home and at the weekend.
There are many excellent restaurants (Bagatti's, Little Bay), pubs/bars (Coombe Lodge, The Store) and independent coffee shops (Bob's Your Uncle, Lloyd Park Cafe) nearby. We're also a short drive or tram/bus trip away from all the major supermarkets and a 10-minute walk from both Sainsbury's Local and Tesco Express.
This flat has been our cosy haven through the years and we will miss it, but it’s time for a new chapter for us both. We hope whoever lives here next will love it as much as we have."
