- This woodland is not suitable for residential use
Tower Wood is a secluded broadleaf woodland, nestled between the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the South Downs National Park.
Accessible via a quiet byway, the wood offers well-defined paths that make it easy to explore. Having been left largely undisturbed for several years, the woodland has seen natural regeneration flourish.
A variety of trees thrive here, including oak, red oak, birch, holly, ash, hazel, spruce, goat willow, sycamore, chestnut, and hornbeam. In some areas, selective thinning could create more open spaces for activities and provide an abundant source of firewood.
Nearby, the village of Laughton and the charming Roebuck Inn are within walking distance, while the vibrant town of Lewes and the south coast’s beaches are just a short drive away.
The ward is Arlington and the county council is East Sussex.
Boundaries: The boundary is open on all sides and borders the access track to the north and woodland paths to the east, west and south.
Access: There is excellent vehicle access all year round via the Green Lane. Parking is possible within the woodland itself with a 4x4.
Covenant: There is a covenant on the wood designed to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of this and adjoining woodlands.
