Description
Situated in an enviable position in one of Malton’s most desirable areas, Devonshire House was once part of Malton’s famous St. Andrews School. The property underwent an extensive programme of development and refurbishment in 1999 and has been under the same ownership since the conversion.
The elegant family home offers beautifully spacious rooms, all of excellent proportions with high ceilings, large sash windows and detailed ceiling cornicing. The property is brimming with period features whilst offering thoroughly modern accommodation perfectly suited to family life.
The ground floor accommodation offers a well proportioned drawing room and dining room with high ceilings and bay windows. The breakfast kitchen has handmade wooden units with granite work tops, a double Belfast sink as well as a range of built in appliances. Just off from the kitchen sits a generous boot room fitted with built-in cabinetry, access to the WC and a door opening to the garden.
To the first floor is the impressive principle bedroom with en suite bathroom and two further bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms. On the second floor there are three further bedrooms, one with an en suite shower room and the remainder served by a separate bathroom.
The lower ground floor was previously used as a self-contained one bedroom apartment. Currently laid out with a bathroom, bedroom, family room and utility room which could easily be converted back into a kitchen. A door provides direct access outside, ideal for dependent family members or as a potential holiday let.
The house is approached via a shared gravelled driveway leading to a double garage with parking for numerous cars to the side and in front. To the front and rear of the property the garden is mainly laid to lawn, bordered by a beech hedge.
