Parque das Nações is a portuguese parish in the municipality of Lisbon, belonging to the East Zone of the capital, with an area of 5.44 km².

It was created as part of an administrative reorganization made official on November 8, 2012, which entered into force after the municipal elections of 2013, resulting from the aggregation of part of the former parish of Santa Maria dos Olivais, in the municipality of Lisbon, with part of the parishes of Moscavide and Sacavém, both from the municipality of Loures.

Parque das Nações was the designation given to the neighborhood that appeared in the former Intervention Zone of the Expo, which includes the place where the World Exhibition of 1998 was held and also all the areas that were under the administration of ParqueExpo, S.A.

This area has, however, become a center of cultural activities and a new neighborhood of the city, with several cultural and sports institutions of its own.

The contemporary architecture of Parque das Nações, the living spaces and the entire urban urbanization and requalification project brought new dynamics to the eastern part of the city of Lisbon, which, in 1990, was still an industrial zone.

Stand out, as examples of the architecture present in the Parque das Nações, the vaults of the platforms of the Gare do Oriente, of Santiago Calatrava, imposing its architectural line; the Pavilion of Portugal, by the architect Portuguese Álvaro Siza Vieira, whose entrance is an imposing concrete pala, which is based on the idea of a sheet of paper inn in two bricks, opening the space to the city to host the various events that a space of this scale welcomes.

The Park has a Knowledge Pavilion, a modern science and technology museum with several interactive exhibits; a cable car transports visitors from one end to the other of the old exhibition area.

Also worth mentioning is the Atlantic Pavilion, the emblematic Vasco da Gama Tower (the tallest building in the country), the Lisbon Oceanarium, one of the largest aquariums in the world and the Church of Our Lady of The Navigators, completed in March 2014.

Taking advantage of its geographical location, the Park is also proud of its modern marina. The Marina Parque das Nações, presents 600 mooring stations for pleasure craft, as well as infrastructure, prepared to host major events of nautical activity, having for the purpose of an event pier and a Pier Bridge not only for cruise or historical large vessels but also as a support area for events on land.

The marina thus gains a special color, being situated in the middle of the natural reserve of the Tagus estuary.

There are already several entities and organizations originating in the resident community of Parque das Nações, such as the Parque das Nações Club, the Association of Residents and Merchants of parque das Nações, as well as various companies and institutions..

Parque das Nações is currently considered as one of the safest neighborhoods in the city of Lisbon.
