Constructed in the 1920s. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the plant was owned and run by metal manufacturer 'High Duty Alloys'. The plant was later taken over by a Swiss aluminium company 'Alusuisse', which continued to operate Wern Works until the early 1990s. The site has been vacant for more than 10 years.
